This week in design – 6 August 2010

And so the sun sets on yet another busy week in the design team. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, there were highs, there were lows.

“But what?” I hear you cry “… were the highlights?!”

Research
Charline has been busily writing up research she conducted last week on Shotwell, the photo application that will replace F-Spot in the next release of Ubuntu. The research will be published in our research section so keep an eye out.

Web
We’re working very closely with internal teams on getting our fleet of websites updated to the new identity. This is no mean feat! We’re also working with the community on getting shared code out there and a big thanks to Matthew Nuzum and Stuart Metcalfe for leading that charge. I will be pestering you chaps for more detail for a future blog post 😉

Visions of the future
This week we were delighted to welcome Andrea Cimitan, author of the Murrine Engine to work with us. He worked closely with our desktop design lead Otto on some enhancements to our very own desktop theme.

A very intense week meant that we were committing changes as Andrea packed his bags so a massive thanks to him and we’ll share the results with the world as soon as we’ve caught up on some sleep 🙂

I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said by Ivanka other than to echo her thanks to Paul Sladen and thank everyone who’s testing, questioning and querying. Dalton Maag will also be starting to blog as guest bloggers right here on design.canonical.com next week so watch this space for more.

Hit up the Vimeo group. A DJ of some renown? We need your audio talents on Sound cloud! In short, these are the places to post your wares and see them on a CD in the hands of millions of people.
