“AND Your Dream Come True” Million Youths Entrepreneurship and Employment Programme “Ubuntu Developer Innovation Contest” officially launched

China Mobile and its industry partner Canonical today announce the launch of the “Ubuntu Developer Innovation Contest”, aimed at giving young developers new, innovative entrepreneurial opportunities by participating in the fast tracking of a new mobile ecosystem. The contest is the featured addition to China Mobile’s “AND Your Dream Come True” Million Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Programme.

The “Ubuntu Developer Innovative Contest” is open to University students, independent developers and the open source community in China. Prizes for the submission of best mobile experiences on Ubuntu include 70,000RMB in cash, mobile devices, and an internship opportunity with Canonical for the winner of the student track. Developers can get involved by visiting the official website at “Complete Your Dream” Million Youth Entrepreneur Plan. The deadline for entry is 30th April 2015, and the finalists will be selected in June 2015.

Contest submissions can include Scopes and Apps (HTML5 and QML native), and finalists will be selected for two tracks – student and independent developers. Developers can find Ubuntu tools, tutorials and other resources at developer.myasnchisdf.eu.org.

The contest will engage developers with the next generation of mobile experiences on Ubuntu – which, for the first time since the first iPhone, don’t revolve around apps and the app icon grid. Ubuntu enables the delivery of content and services directly to the screen – effectively creating a rich, fast and unfragmented experience for users. It gives developers the unprecedented opportunity to create app-like experiences that are integral to the device, at a fraction of the cost of building and maintaining traditional apps. These experiences are developed using Ubuntu Scopes, a new UI toolkit available through the Ubuntu SDK. More on Ubuntu for phones and Ubuntu Scopes and be found here.

China Mobile’s “AND Your Dream Come True” Million Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Program is a cooperation between the Communist Youth League Central Committee and China Mobile launched in 2010, with a mission to support young students with entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
